Almost heaven, West Virginia.

Russ grew up the youngest of six in a lower-middle-class family with deep blue-collar roots from the suburbs of Pittsburgh. When the family of first-generation immigrants moved to West Virginia, their cramped two-bedroom apartment near the aluminum plant became a stark reminder of hardship. With the pantry often bare and bills competing for priority, faith and family became their foundation. Russ deepened those values as a Boy Scout, where service became his expression of integrity—faith, family, and service guiding him ever since.

Those are the core principles that form the mission of Rice Real Estate Appraisal & Consulting:

To serve the community with integrity, loyalty, and respect—preserving the public’s trust in the appraisal profession through work that exceeds minimum standards and honors the dignity of every client. This mission reflects nearly three decades of dedication to the appraisal profession. Through prayer and reflection, Russ realized he doesn’t work for love of the job, but for love of his family, peers, and community. Rice Real Estate Appraisal & Consulting is more than a business—it’s a family. Our mission isn’t the invoice; it’s serving our community with integrity, loyalty, and respect. When those values are for sale, they lose their meaning.

We exist to preserve public trust in the appraisal profession through service that exceeds minimum standards—honoring our name, those who came before us, and those we serve.
